TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund Danantara has opened a new registration round for companies interested in partnering on its Waste-to-Energy Electricity Project (PSEL).
The registration marks the second phase following the initial selection process for projects in Bekasi, Greater Denpasar, and Greater Bogor.
Fadli Rahman, Investment Director at PT Danantara Investment Management, said the new registration offers opportunities to broaden technology options, attract funding from more countries, and strengthen domestic investment.
“This is part of Danantara’s effort to expand the participation of both national and global companies in developing modern waste treatment infrastructure in Indonesia,” he said in a written statement on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
The registration process will establish a Verified Provider List (DPT) made up of companies that meet the required criteria. These companies will then be evaluated based on the quality of their technology and financing proposals for the waste-to-energy project.
“Previously, the program attracted interest from various international companies and investors seeking to help address Indonesia’s national waste emergency,” Fadli said.
During the first registration round in 2025, Danantara announced 24 companies that were included in the DPT. Most of the selected firms were corporations from China.
Among them were Zhejiang Weiming Environment Protection Co., Ltd., appointed as the managing partner for the PSEL projects in Greater Bogor and Greater Denpasar, and Wangneng Environment Co., Ltd., which was assigned to the Bekasi project.
Selected partner companies are required to form a consortium with local corporations, including both private firms and state-owned enterprises. The collaboration is intended to support technology transfer and ensure broader local involvement in project implementation.
