Danantara Monitor Coalition Submits Information Request to Danantara and the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), Encouraging Transparency in State Asset Management

Danantara Monitor Coalition

Jakarta, June 3, 2026 — Danantara Monitor Coalition submitted an information request to the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) and the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) as part of the efforts to strengthen public oversight of state assets and financial management. The step was taken to align Danantara’s transparency, accountability, and good governance with its expansive mandate as a state investment vehicle managing substantial state-owned enterprise assets.

The Danantara Monitor Coalition requested access from Danantara to several important documents, including Danantara’s 2025 Financial Report, Danantara’s 2025 Annual Report, and Danantara’s First Quarter 2026 Financial Report. The Coalition further urged BPK to make public information on the audit process and findings related to Danantara’s financial management. This transparency is critical for enabling independent research and ensuring that public asset management adheres to principles of transparency, accountability, and legal compliance.

CELIOS Executive Director, Bhima Yudhistira, said that transparency in Danantara’s financial and performance reports is an absolute prerequisite for increasing public and investor trust. “The weakening rupiah and the declining Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) reflect issues with Danantara’s governance. Investors interested in investing in renewable energy and collaborating with Danantara naturally have questions about financial transparency. Increasing trust in the investment climate can begin with transparency in Danantara’s financial reports. This will ensure clarity regarding Danantara’s projects and real returns over the past year,” Bhima said.

Seira Tamara, a researcher at Indonesia Corruption Watch, said that the large assets and authority managed by Danantara must be balanced with a high level of transparency. Information transparency is the primary foundation for building public trust and ensuring that state asset management is carried out in accordance with the principles of accountability and the public interest. “Governance that is not disclosed with transparency and accountability will place Danantara in a dark place that is difficult for the public to access. This can trigger the risk of conflicts of interest and corruption,” said Seira.

The Danantara Monitor Coalition believes that public access to financial reports and audit results is an essential part of a healthy checks and balances mechanism. As an institution that manages strategic state assets, Danantara needs to demonstrate a strong commitment to transparency so that the public can objectively assess the performance, risks, and impact of state investment management.

“As a youth organization, we are deeply concerned about the current social and geopolitical issues in Indonesia. We see various discussions related to Danantara on social media being widely discussed by the public, and yet our access to information on its website is very limited. Of course, this will have a major impact on our future. If Danantara cannot provide clear information and accountability, the future of the nation’s children will be at stake. We have the right to know and to participate in safeguarding and pursuing a better future,” said Reka Maharwati, Coordinator of Enter Nusantara.

Bondan Andriyanu, Outreach and Advocacy Manager at CERAH, added that as an investment management body, Danantara plays a pivotal role in achieving the government’s ambitious target of developing 100 GW of solar power capacity. “Therefore, policy consistency, the courage to shift investment away from fossil fuels, and full transparency in the management of public funds are required. Therefore, transparency of information regarding Danantara’s investment decisions is crucial so the public can ensure that the direction of the state’s investments truly supports Indonesia’s clean energy future,” explained Bondan.

The Danantara Monitor Coalition will continue promoting transparent and accountable governance practices and initiate the process of disseminating such information as part of efforts to strengthen public oversight of state asset management.
