Jakarta – Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) has created a new state-owned enterprise to manage mines, according to Danantara Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria.
Dony said the new SOE, called Perusahaan Mineral Nasional (Perminas), is an independent entity under Danantara. He said Peminas is not under MIND ID, the state-owned mining industry holding.
“There is Perusahaan Mineral Nasional, which we just formed. This is indeed a new firm,” he said in Jakarta on Wednesday (28/1).
According to Dony, Perminas will manage the Martabe gold mine in North Sumatra, previously managed by PT Agincourt Resources. This subsidiary of PT United Tractors Tbk. (UNTR) is one of the companies whose business licenses were revoked by the government.
The revocation of the business licenses is related to violations of forest area utilization regulations that have resulted in natural disasters. According to Dony, the takeover of Agincourt’s mining concession took into account Danantara’s business lines.
“Of course, because of their business lines, the government’s businesses are all in Danantara, right? Of course, they will be handed over to Danantara,” Dony explained.
However, Dony admitted he did not yet know the details of the Agincourt operational takeover, including the timing of the implementation. He said he would check first because he had not yet received the official report.
Previously, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that the 28 companies whose licenses were revoked would be handed over to state-owned companies. He briefly mentioned Antam or MIND ID.
