The Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara Indonesia) announced that Indonesia will export clean energy electricity to Singapore. The project is targeted to begin operations by the end of this year.
Danantara Indonesia Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Pandu Patria Sjahrir said that the Indonesian government has met with leaders in Singapore. He mentioned that several companies have already obtained temporary permits from the neighboring country’s government.
“There are 6-7 companies that have received conditional licenses from Singapore, and we are now approaching them for collaboration,” Pandu said at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Building in Jakarta on Monday (May 11, 2026).
Furthermore, Pandu also mentioned the opportunity for Indonesia to begin a new renewable energy electricity export project to Singapore by the end of this year. He stated that President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to meet with the Singaporean prime minister next month to explore the collaboration.
According to him, this momentum is expected to be the first step in starting the electricity export project to Singapore. He stated that the total investment value of the project is estimated at US$30 billion or Rp522.79 trillion.
According to Pandu, the project is one of the largest renewable energy projects currently, with a capacity of around 3 gigawatts.
In addition to exports to Singapore, the electricity generated will also be used for domestic consumption. Furthermore, the government is targeting the development of up to 100 gigawatts of electricity capacity to meet future national energy needs.
“So, it’s a very small percentage of what’s needed for Singapore,” Pandu said.
