KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. The Indonesian Government and Danantara have planned to acquire 50 units of commercial aircraft from the United States, valued at about US$13.5 billion, or around Rp227.91 trillion (Rp16,882 per US$).
This massive plan is a follow-up to the Agreement on Reciprocal Tariffs (ART) signed by President Prabowo Subianto and President Donald Trump in the Implementation of the Agreement toward a New Golden Age US–Indonesia Alliance document on Friday (20/2).
On the Investment and Danantara Agenda
Minister of Investment and Downstream Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Perkasa Roeslani said the plan has been included in the implementation of the agreement, coordinated by the Ministry of Investment and Danantara.
One concrete opportunity being discussed is the purchase of 50 aircraft from the US manufacturer, Boeing.
Rosan revealed that initial discussions with Boeing have taken place and will be followed up on further.
“This does involve both the Ministry of Investment and Danantara because there are several opportunities, including a lock-up and the smooth purchase of 50 Boeing aircraft, which we will later discuss with Boeing,” Rosan said in a virtual press conference from Washington, DC, on Friday (20/2).
Listed in the White House Fact Sheet
The purchase commitment is also included in the Fact Sheet: Trump Administration Finalizes Trade Deal With Indonesia, released by the White House on Friday (20/2).
The document states that the US and Indonesia have reached a major commercial agreement worth approximately US$33 billion in the agriculture, aerospace, and energy sectors in the US.
One detail includes the procurement of commercial aircraft and aviation-related goods and services worth approximately US$13.5 billion, including from Boeing.
This transaction value makes it one of the largest investment commitments in the latest bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and the US.
