KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. The efforts to accelerate the development of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the eastern part of Indonesia have received a boost, thanks to the support from Indonesia’s Investment Management Agency Daya Anagata Nusantara (BPI Danantara).
Acting Secretary General of the National Council of Special Economic Zones (KEK), Rizal Edwin Manansang, said the scheme for BPI Danantara’s involvement in financing the KEK is currently still in the initial discussion stage.
Edwin said President Prabowo Subianto has instructed Danantara to help KEK financing, especially in the eastern part of Indonesia.
This policy direction emerged because the region still faces significant challenges, particularly in terms of accessibility and infrastructure.
“At that time, there was an instruction from the President to provide assistance, particularly to the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in Eastern Indonesia. There are indeed some problems because accessibility is somewhat difficult, both in terms of transportation and infrastructure,” Edwin told the media in Jakarta on Tuesday (9/12).
He added that support from Danantara is expected to accelerate regional development so that economic activity in SEZs in Eastern Indonesia can continue to grow.
However, Edwin emphasized that the implementation of the scheme still requires further discussion between Danantara and various relevant ministries and institutions.
“This still requires more in-depth discussion, as we only received the directive yesterday. So, further joint discussions are needed between Danantara and the relevant ministries/institutions,” he said.
