Bahlil Opens Opportunity for Danantara to Work On 100 GW Solar Power Project

Published by IDX Channel on August 25, 2026

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia said the 100 gigawatt peak (GWp) Solar Power Plant will attract private investments. However, if the project lacks appetite from the private sector, Bahlil said, Danantara will tackle it.

“If the price is competitive, we will award it to an IPP; if it is not competitive and there are no takers, the government will take over the project—executing it through Danantara with financing that aligns with the President’s directives for efficiency, effectiveness, and affordability,” said Bahlil during the launch and groundbreaking of the 100 GWp Solar Power Plant (PLTS) program in Bali on Tuesday (25/08).

The 100 GW Solar Power Plant needs an investment of about Rp1,140 trillion. The government expects the program to reduce subsidies by Rp73.9 trillion a year, to create around 5.5 million jobs, and reduce emission by about 140.16 million tonnes of CO2.
